What The Flower of Life Means to Me

The Flower of Life symbol is the essence of sacred geometry. It has been a sacred symbol from ancient times through to the present. Loosely described, The Flower of Life is a universal symbol representing connectedness to absolutly everything, the 'All That Is'. It is found on many of the oldest temple sites around the world, and has links with many differing religons and philosophies.

Symbols live deep in our unconscious and influence us at subtle levels. The Flower of Life is coming strongly back into human consciousness at this current time and though many may not always consciously understand it ( for to truly understand this symbol you would need to experience it through heart felt humility) The Flower of Life is recognised by us all at some level. It still has the power to intrigue, to fascinate and to call out to our essential self.

As a small child I would spend hours on the floor with my pencils and compass, drawing The Flower of Life and it's components, I didn't understand logicially what it meant. I would colour in the different shapes with my crayons and pencils, all the time my heart was trilling with happiness. With my innocent child attention I would the turn The Flower of Life patterns into wonderful mandalas which I would pin on the wall and dreamily stare at before falling asleep. Children are naturally open to truth, sadly this is so often hidden as we begin to learn to analyse, judge and dissect our world.

When contemplating creating my new website, I wanted something special and meaningful, a symbol which would reach out to others and would become a focus for the energetic matrix which we are all apart of and which I deeply believe all healing takes place through.

Then it came to me, not during a meditation but when I was randomly shifting papers on my desk. I saw the symbol in my mind as you see it now on my website but in my mind it was brighter, glowed more and gave me a thrill like I remembered as a child.

I am no expert on the Flower of Life, I haven't studied it in any depth, however in some small way I am aware of it's effect on me. I know when I connect with it I feel a sense of uplift, joy and awe.

This symbol is coming back into our awareness because the time is now for us to really 'Get' that all things, physical life, the universe, energy and spirit come from One Source and we, it, they are also that source. Everything is interwoven into everything else, allowing for infinate potential. Within us we have the map, coding, circuitry to enable us to open up to this potential and embrace the divine, heal our dis-ease and open our hearts fully to our beautiful world. The power is there to turn around the percieved reality of fear that we, collectively have created for ourselves.

The sun image behind The Flower of Life on my website page is a pretty good physical symbol to link with the concept of Source. Life, power, abundance, without the sun we would be in a difficult place!

Think about this... if you take the word 'fear', what images, thoughts and feelings does it conjure up? Darkness, want to hide, overwhelm, disempowering, anger, blame, violence?

If you turn around the fear you get - raef - it doesn't mean much until you take the first two letters, 'ra' an Egyptian word which means the sun the physical symbol for Source, giver of life, goodness and warmth. If you look at the second two letters, 'ef' a Latin prefix meaning 'out of' or to 'flow out'. For example effervesce, effloresce, effusion, effortless. Consider that fear turned arouned could become, Love and Light flowing out of Source, flowing from the giver of life, flowing out of Goodness.

The essence of my work and my website is to enable people to turn the fear locked into their stories around, letting love and light flow out.
